31 percent of LGBT people in Macedonia don’t have a favorable opinion of any LGBT person present in the media. Most favorable opinion of LGBTI people for his presence in the media enjoys Bekim Asani of LGBT United Tetovo.

These are the results of a survey of attitudes and perceptions of LGBT people in Macedonia, which was conducted in June and July this year by the National Democratic Institute and Ipsos Strategic Marketing, based on a convenience sample of 237 respondents.

“46 percent of those surveyed LGBTI people are personally satisfied with the work of civil society organizations in Macedonia dealing with LGBT issues, and high 83 percent believe that the support of the European Union is very important for improving the status of LGBT people in Macedonia. For us this is important data especially in creating further strategies of action, finding application partners and collaborators to achieve our goals, “said Antonio Mihajlov from” Subversive Front “- an association that works on research and education about LGBT issues.

“The fact that  I’m the lead of the list of LGBTI people who have a favorable opinion of the community, encourages me and motivates me to further continue strengthening the community – something that proved to be necessary, according to the results of this research. This is one of the few studies where LGBTI people in Macedonia could answer on issues of relevance to their lives, and we as LGBT activists, we have an obligation to strengthen and expand that dialogue with the community. “- Said Bekim Asani of LGBT United Tetovo.
