Public Discussion: Access to Health and Social Services for LGBTI People

We are pleased to invite you to take part in the public discussion “How to Achieve Integrated Access to Health and Social Care for LGBTI People” on Thursday, May 17th, 2018, from 10:30 to 14:00. in the EU Info Center (“St. Cyril and Methodius” 52-b, Skopje).

The public discussion aims to bring together in one place the key stakeholders who can provide health and social care services for LGBTI people, such as representatives from the relevant ministries, the Macedonian Chamber of Psychologists, the Association for Social Workers of Macedonia, media representatives, as well as representatives from the civil society sector who represent the rights of LGBTI people. The event is organized by the Association for Critical Approach to Gender and Sexuality “Subversive Front” from Skopje, with the support of the Macedonian Chamber of Psychologists.

The public discussion will present some of the key challenges that LGBTI people face when accessing health and social services identified through the work of LGBTI organizations that facilitate the access to these services. At the same time, an attempt will be made to respond to such challenges by proposing solutions that will serve in defining specific guidelines and determining priorities for creating and improving an integrated approach to such services. The approach in determining the priorities we represent is intersectional, i.e. pays particular attention to the various interdependent actors that contribute to limiting the access to these services by LGBTI people, regardless of their age, disability, ethnicity, social and class status, and so on.

Finally, at the discussion, we will traditionally mark May 17th – International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia by awarding the “Ally of the Year” award, with which we give special recognition to individuals, organizations and institutions for their significant contribution to the campaign for equal rights for LGBTI people in the Republic of Macedonia in the past year.

We and our partners will be honored if we receive an official confirmation of your participation in this important part of our work for the promotion of the situation and rights of LGBTI people in the Republic of Macedonia. If you need additional information and clarifications, please contact us using the information below.
